Same as our signature Silktouch collection, made with fine TENCEL™ Modal x Micro Air fibres that are lighter and finer than silk, with a diameter of only 0.8 dtex. The fine fibre is specially spun and knitted into fabric that is soft, light, and breathable.

The psychedelic "fan" pattern, orginated from Central Ghana, celebrates the Ghanaian culture and dynamism.  The lines represent the different tribes and how they join together, in harmony, for continual unity and prosperity.

The houndstooth pattern is Mr Kiuchi's first collaboration with Tani.  From afar, the design resembles a traditional houndstooth pattern. Upon inspection, the pattern is made up of many different types of dogs!

The Softest and Silkiest

Crafted with TENCEL™ Modal x Micro Air fibers, the finest wood-based fibers available. It is 20% finer, 60% softer than regular modal and more than 2 times as soft as conventional cotton. The finer fibers also results in a lightweight garment with all the great comforts of modal.

Carbon-zero TENCEL™ Modal

Not all modal are made the same. We work with Lenzing to reduce the carbon footprint of our products by 80%. Starting in 2022, we have been using Carbon-zero TENCEL™ Modal further reducing our footprint compared to generic modal.

Stay Comfortable

TENCEL™ Modal fibers naturally manage the transport away moisture, keeping your skin from feeling damp and uncomfortable. Which means you feel cooler when its hot outside and warmer when its cold.

More Durable Than Cotton

Using patented Eco Color technology to prevent color fading. TENCEL™ fibers are twice as strong as conventional cotton and can withstand repeated wash and dry cycles.

All Natural and Sustainable

Sourced from sustainable beech wood in Europe and produced in a sustainble process which saves both energy and water.

What is "Underdog" ?

a play on words...Combining the specialty of Tani - UNDERwear, with our love of animals, especially DOGs. In English, the word "underdog" is often referred to the weaker party, the less fortunate in the society.

everyone loves an underdog...is the charitable arm of Tani Japan. Proceeds from the sale of this collection will go to fund projects that raise awareness and offer financial help to the underprivileged.

Project Partner
Dog Shelter, Tokyo, Japan

Sales proceeds (after deducting production cost) from the Underdog project in Japan will go to fund Tokyo-based Dog Shelter <dogshelter.jp>

Dog Shelter was founded by Mrs Mina Kataoka in 2006. The small organization is run by volunteers only. Every dog they take in undergoes thorough medical check and home fostering before being matched to their new permanent home. Every prospective dog owner and their home are also vetted by the team.

Dog Shelter has re-homed over 900 dogs in the Kanto and Kansai area. Only 2 dogs have ever been returned to Dog Shelter following their formal adoption, testament to Mrs Kataoka and her team's serious and thorough work.
