TANI

is dedicated to the pursuit of the world’s most comfortable essentials. We source the finest materials globally, prioritizing botanic fibers that naturally offer superior softness while respecting the environment.

Our philosophy is simple: create unparalleled comfort with the smallest footprint possible. We do not claim perfection, but we are committed to constant progress—making better choices for your skin and the planet every day. Our approach is built on three pillars: Materiality, Humanity, and Environment.

Tani Fabric Texture
The texture of responsibility.

Materiality

Comfort begins at the fiber level. That is why over 80% of our collection is crafted from Lenzing TENCEL™ fibers. We choose these botanic fibers because they offer a sensory softness and breathability that standard fabrics cannot match.

Not all fibers are created equal. We partner with Lenzing for their closed-loop process and consistent quality. However, we believe in using the right fiber for the right purpose. We blend our botanics with elastane for shape retention, or performance acrylics in our thermal lines to maximize warmth.

>80% Lenzing Fibers +

We commit to this high percentage to ensure consistent quality. Unlike generic viscose, which often has opaque supply chains, Lenzing fibers are derived from sustainably managed wood sources in Austria and neighboring countries.

Biodegradable Base Materials +

We specialize in the finest tiers of Lenzing fibers, specifically TENCEL™ Micro Modal Air and Lyocell. These fibers are fully biodegradable and compostable, capable of reverting to nature. Note: While these base fibers are biodegradable, the small percentage of synthetic blends (elastane/acrylic) used for performance are not.

Responsible Production +

All our Lenzing fibers are created using award-winning, resource-efficient processes. This includes the integrated production of Modal and the closed-loop system for Lyocell, both designed to recover process water and chemicals at industry-leading rates (up to 99%) to minimize environmental impact.

Humanity

We believe that the hands that craft our garments deserve the same respect as the clients who wear them. Excellence requires dignity, which is why we foster a culture of safety and transparency.

Our production is anchored in Southern China and Japan. We do not chase the lowest bidder; we chase the highest skill. We prioritize technical mastery over low-cost production, maintaining a 15-year partnership with our founding artisans in China and a six-year collaboration with our technical specialists in Japan.

Global Living Wage Coalition +

We believe in going beyond legal minimums. By partnering with the Global Living Wage Coalition (GLWC), we commit to closing the gap between minimum wage and a true living wage—ensuring the people making your clothes can afford decent housing, food, and education for their families.

BSCI Oversight +

We do not grade our own homework. We rely on the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) to conduct rigorous, third-party audits of our factories. This ensures strict adherence to safety standards, reasonable working hours, and zero tolerance for child or forced labor.

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 +

Since Tani is worn directly against the skin, chemical safety is paramount. Our products are certified by OEKO-TEX® (License: HK 020 169976), meaning every thread and button has been tested for over 100 harmful substances and found to be harmless for human health.

Environment

We believe that who we work with matters as much as what we make. Our environmental commitment extends beyond the fiber to the factory floor. We actively seek out manufacturing partners who view sustainability as a standard, not an upsell—prioritizing those who utilize green energy and responsible waste management.

We are also rethinking how our products reach you. We prioritize lightweight, minimalist packaging to reduce shipping emissions. While we have not eliminated plastic entirely, we are constantly actively innovating to replace synthetic components with compostable alternatives.

Conscious Partnerships +

We align with makers who innovate for the planet. A prime example is our Swiss Harmony collection, crafted by a small, family-run knitter in Switzerland that operates exclusively on green energy. We prioritize partners who share our vision for a lower-carbon future.

Packaging & Footprint +

We offer a dedicated "Eco-Friendly Packaging" option at checkout, utilizing lightweight tissue and recyclable mailers to significantly lower parcel weight. However, sustainability is our baseline: our standard packaging features a reusable pouch that is fully compostable—with the exception of the zipper, for which we are actively testing biodegradable alternatives.

Resource Preservation +

Our choice of Lenzing fibers is an intentional move to save water. TENCEL™ Lyocell requires up to 20 times less water to produce than conventional cotton and uses renewable energy in production, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of every garment we make.
